Senior Energy Consultant

Location/Experience

SIG is seeking an engineer with Commissioning/Energy Modeling/Energy Audit experience (4+ years) who fits within our culture for a remote position. SIG’s major markets include New York, San Francisco (Bay Area), Los Angeles, Washington D.C., Minneapolis, Boston and Atlanta.

Overview

The Senior Energy Consultant reports directly to the Engineering Department Manager (VP of Technical Services) and supports SIG’s Engineering Department on LEED and other engineering projects. Plans, leads and manages commissioning, energy modeling, energy audit and LEED for Existing Buildings projects. Knowledge of ASHRAE 90.1 and 62.1 standards, LEED BD+C (NC, CI, CS) and LEED EB O+M rating systems, and energy modeling software (IESVE or similar) preferred. Must have excellent project management skills and client relationship focus.

Essential Job Functions

  • Manage multiple green building projects (primarily LEED) for commercial real estate clients (including Commissioning, Energy Modeling, Energy Star, Energy Audits, etc).
  • Lead project meetings and create a forum for collaboration between project team members.
  • Maintain project schedules and budgets.
  • Project travel expected nationwide with primary focus on local NYC projects.
  • Educate and coordinate with clients with high level communication skills.
  • Participate in business development to maintain relationships in current and new markets.
  • Maintain a high level of industry knowledge through professional development and organization participation.
  • Contribute ideas for continual improvement of project processes.
  • Contribute project and subject matter information for use in social media posts, blogs for SIG website and internal education purposes.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Accredited Degree from a 4-year college or university in a related area of study preferred. Extensive experience in commissioning, energy modeling or MEP design may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Commissioning or Retro-Commissioning experience.
  • Energy Modeling experience and knowledge of latest available software on the market (IESVE or similar).
  • Project experience with LEED rating systems and LEED online.
  • Engineer in Training designation required.
  • Professional Engineering Licensure preferred.
  • Passion for green buildings and sustainability; independently driven to learn new systems and skills to improve the built environment.
  • Excellent communication skills; both oral and written.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, detail-oriented, self-guided with the ability to deliver timely results.
